Monochrome magic

Searching for a trans-seasonal look to fill the gap between burgundy velvet and pastel knits? Look no further than monochrome - think crisp whites and sporty blacks with just a hint of colour thrown in, as seen in many a SS13 catwalk collection.

Black and white can at first appear a bit on the dull side; conjuring up images of drab office wear and uniforms but this Spring's take on the look is anything but... young and fresh, SS13 monochrome is perfect for day and evening wear.

The high street has gone for this trend in a big way- look for slightly structured items with straight lines in heavy jersey or neoprene fabrics. Mesh panels and sporty details are also key and flashes of red and blue help to break the look up.

For day this black jersey dress looks perfect with a faux leather biker jacket slung over- pick up a bigger size than normal for the sporty look. I am absolutely in love with these Topshop boots and they complete the look with a pair of thick black tights and simple make-up.

For evening, monochrome goes a little bit 90's with this black cut out top, tucked into a structured white mini skirt. These grey and white wedge boots keep the look modern and the reversible 3.1 Phillip Lim clutch is the only accessory you need.
