Bertie AW collection

On Tuesday of this week I was lucky enough to be at an event to showcase Bertie's new season shoes along with lots of other bloggers. We were treated to drinks and a rather tasty buffet in the new flagship store on South Molton Street and a lovely new pair of shoes (more on those later...)

The AW ad campaign centres around 'The Love Affair', the story of the founder falling in love with shoes whilst working as an airport cleaner, leading him to start the company in 1974. Black and white images centre around the shoes and how they are worn by the models.

As for the shoes themselves, there were many to lust after at the event and I snapped some pictures of the best of the collection. The overall feel of the collection was wearable yet unique, the soft and hard leathers of the boots and shoes were accompanied by interesting details including studs, chunky rubber soles and velvet laces.

Here are my favourites from the collection:

Everyone needs a pair of brogues this season and this pair are more interesting than your average. Love the stud detail on these 'Gateux B', £70.



Continuing with the stud-love, these studded fold down boots are so comfy and the perfect accompaniment to a rainy day in the city. 'Nickson B', £135.



If you buy one new pair of boots this season, make sure you get yourself some heeled hiking boots like this lovely pair. Warm and on-trend! 'Reagan', £125.



If you fancy splashing out on some new evening shoes then these are the pair to buy. Black and mega-strapped, will look perfect with a pair of leather shorts and a crisp white shirt accompanied by some bold lipstick. 'S Superstar, £110'.



Last, but definitely not least are my favourite pair of shoes from the event:

All in all the event was a perfect platform to display the new collection and the new flagship store and I had a great time. Thanks to the team at Bertie for putting on a great show!

It's Wednesday...

... and you know what that means! I've been trawling the shops, both literal and on-line to bring you the best bits to buy this week. Hope you like!

1. To kick us off this week I bring you this rather lovely zodiac sign bracelet from Urban Outfitters. One for each star sign - pictured here is my sign, Sagittarius, and available to buy for £16. A unique piece of jewellery that will add charm to any outfit this season.



2. Next on the list is this impressive quilted skirt with gem detail by KTZ at Topshop. Topshop are always on the ball with their designer collaborations, KTZ are a Macedonian designer duo and will be appearing at London Fashion Week this season. I'd wear this skirt with a simple tee and some killer heels. Yours for £190, check out the rest of the range for other awe-inspiring pieces.



3. In-keeping with the spangly look of the last item, I bring you this black sequin cardi from Monsoon Fusion, £55. Will look great now and even better at Christmas.



4. Yes, it's another spangly item for you at number four this week- this embellished, tasseled bag from River Island has really caught my eye and will add interest to a fair isle print jumper, jeans and winter boots outfit. £79.99 and the perfect mini-bag for Autumn.



5. Last on the list today is the most on-trend item to keep you warm in the chill; the cape is back in full force for AW10 and this one is my favourite so far. The bright red will look great against Autumn's colour palette. Yours for £68 at Miss Selfridge.

A/W Jewelery

At the start of a new season, Jewelery is often the last thing on my mind when shopping the new trends. But it's by far the easiest way to update your look - add some statement earrings for example and you can really lift an outfit. I'm not the sort of person who always feels the need to wear jewelery - I only wear a piece if I really like it and if it adds something to the outfit. However, statement necklaces have recently been catching my eye, and this Autumn I will definitely be purchasing a few.

Mid-week Wishing

The Wednesday Wish List is back... and I've come over all Autumnal. Get shopping for the hottest new bits and bobs on the high street. Enjoy!

1. To kick us off today I bring you this pair of rather lovely burnt-red suede shorts, £65 at Topshop. Tuck in a cream silky shirt, pull up your knitted socks and you're ready to face the winter... or at least, look at it from the comfort of your taxi.



2. I love this vintage-look tapestry hold-all from Miss Selfridge, £39. If you're going to travel, do it in style. Although one warning, don't pair it with head-to-toe vintage or you might look like you stepped out of an old-lady's wardrobe. Wear it the modern way with an on trend military jacket and skinnys.



3. This could well be said jacket - embrace the heritage look and still look feminine, the strap will define your waist and keep you snug. Get it at Warehouse, £70.



4. I think this Essie nail varnish may well be my go-to this AW. Steering away from the brighter, coral reds of summer, this red is the perfect compliment to my new camel coat. Buy the 'Limited Addiction' shade, and the rest of the Autumn collection for £9.50 at www.asos.com.

Welcome to AW10

As decided by your favourite Fashion magazines and the rather dreary weather, Autumn is pretty much upon us, and I for one have been taking the new season in my fashion stride. AW looks set to be an exciting time for fashion, embracing womanhood and warmth in one big sheepskin, velvet, leather and lace bundle. But just in case you, like me, are prone to a spot of wardobe panic, I am here to help you work out what to keep from last season, what to stash away for now, and what to buy. You'll be this-season-savvy in no time!

As sad as I am to admit it, summer is pretty much over and I'm afraid that means the end of the pastel shades for now. Stash away your baby blues, pinks and lilac for at least another season and swap for their Autumnal equivalents of royal and midnight blue, magenta, mauve and aubergine.
According to the glossies, we should all be ditching our platforms for their humbler sister, the kitten heel. However, my advice would be to not go too extreme, whilst the kitten heel is tres chic this season, only certain types of platforms need to be banished to the back of your wardrobe. Any platforms in summer brights and flimsy styles don't quite cut it this season - your shoes should be strong and full of bold detail.
The new season also spells the end of bright printed maxi dresses, but is by no means the end of the style itself. Swap the light for the dark and invest in a grungy maxi to go with your aviator jacket and black leather ankle boots.

Speaking of the maxi dress, plain styles in jersey material are still good for the new season. I'll be wearing my black t-shirt maxi dress with a knitted cardi, vintage look bag and loafers until Winter kicks in.
Keep hold of any luxe tailoring pieces you may have acquired this previous season- items such as the slouchy t-shirt and smart harem trousers will still be on trend without the gladiator sandals. Wear with a camel coat and brogues for normal daywear or your trusty tan platforms for work with some chunky ankle socks. Yes you heard me right - ankle socks should not be ignored for AW, make sure they're slouchy, thick and in shades of grey.



Stella McCartney, AW10 RTW

The lace and velvet on the catwalks looking a bit familiar? It certainly should do; lace and velvet featured prominently in last years AW collections so you should have a couple of items you can dig out to wear again. Velvet is particularly key in shades of deep red, blue and purple but black can be jazzed up with some goth-glam makeup and accessories. Lace bodies were everywhere this Spring on the high street and will look just as good now layered with knitwear, printed trousers and ankle boots.



Zac Posen, AW10 RTW

Now we come to the fun part. What to buy for the new season? There are several key pieces to invest in as listed below which can be mixed in with essentials you already own and remnants of last season to create a versatile look.
Camel is the key colour of the season and can be worn on tops, bottoms, jackets and so on. Snap up the all important camel coat and a camel jumper for starters and work them into your everyday wardrobe. This camel slouchy jumper is £40 from Topshop.



This season's dresses are more conservative than their predecessors, but somehow just as sexy. Snap up a tunic dress with a mid-length hem in a neutral colour and let the shape do the talking. This one is £65 from Warehouse.



Shearling is the fabric on every designers lips this season and can be found on almost anything. Look for it on bags, shoes and jackets of course. Who says you can't be practical and stylish in equal measures? Get shopping at New Look for these shoe boots at £29.99.



Trousers come in every shape and size this season and should be your go-to item. Anything goes, from the slim fit jodphur to the printed harem, just tuck in a t-shirt and go. My favourite pair so far are these velvet peg leg trousers for £38 from ASOS, perfect for day and night.

I return from holiday to bring you the news that Zara's online store launched today and is definitely worth logging onto. My favourite high street store for unusual shoes, leather bags and smart yet on trend tailoring, you can now snap up yet more AW essentials from the comfort of your sofa. I bring you a handful of items you should be purchasing right away. Credit cards at the ready?

Zara is awash with clothing in camel, the infamous colour-de-jour for the new season and this camel coat is a great place to start. A classic, flattering coat for £129 - tell your friends its Chloe, they'll never know the difference.



These printed trousers are the perfect pair to lounge around in this season. And for just £22.99 they're definitely a bargain worth snapping up.



I love this ethnic print t-shirt, yours for £14.99. Such a versatile piece, pair it simply with a pair of skinny jeans and brogues or clash it up with the above trousers and desert boots.



If your buy buy one item this week then I definitely recommend this cherry red bag - the most coveted accessory this season, wear with literally everything. £39.99, looks like it could be worth so much more.

Holi-Holiday

I'm off on holiday early next week for two weeks and if you know me, you'll know how excited I am! So this is just a short note to apologise for the lack of blogging from now until early September.
