Wednesday Wish

Hello and happy Wednesday, hope your week is going well so far and you are looking forward to July - can't believe it's almost here! As usual I have rounded up my top five items from the high street this week for your perusal and hope you enjoy.

1. First up is my current obsession: big earrings. A great accessory to add some interest to a neutral outfit and the perfect partner to the topknot, anything feathered and over sized is currently catching my eye and River Island are churning out some beauties at the moment. Try these green feathered earrings for size with a bright blue top for a stunning colour clash. River Island, £12.99.

2. I spotted these in store the other day and sadly they were out of my size or I would've snapped them up straight away! We have Miuccia Prada to thank for the sporty wedge/creeper style shoes of Spring 2011 but these are by far the most wearable. Try them with a denim jumpsuit or a neon vest dress for a great Summer look. H&M, £29.99

3. Yellow is a key colour for this season and the next and these trousers are a great way to work brights into your wardrobe. Wear with a slouchy grey or black t-shirt to bring out the brightness and a printed knit or ladylike blouse come Autumn. Urban Outfitters, £35.

4. Need a sundress for that all important garden party? Look no further than this nautical inspired strapless dress by Mariko, one of the brands stocked in Dorothy Perkins. Perfect for day or night, just add boat shoes and a glass of Pimms! Mariko at Dorothy Perkins, £35.

5. Last up this week is another of my current obsessions - cut-out detail shirt dresses. A far cry from the bodycon look, this golden brown shirt dress is subtly sexy and multi functional: wear with brogues for day and mega platforms for evening. Get yours now at Miss Selfridge, £45.

AW11 sneak peek

Apologies for the lack of blog posts recently, I have been a very lazy girl *slaps myself on the wrist* but hope you have all been well and are enjoying the occasional spurts of good weather we've been having.

The past month or so has been press day galore and I've taken a few sneaky snaps of AW11 on the high street to share with you so you know what to look out for when you start thinking about your Autumn wardrobes. N.B - poor quality photos courtesy of my crappy old Blackberry, apologies!

ASOS - Burberry inspired checked and block colour coats, English heritage colour palette, gorgeous bold colour bags, lots of leopard print accessories, chunky boots and tapestry material shoes (my favourite pieces)

ALDO - lots of party perfect platforms heels/wedges, colour palette predominantly purple, grey and black and sequins a key detail - love the sequin loafers!

OFFICE - disco themed collection for evenings with velvet and suede fabrics appearing on various gravity-defying heels, for day take your pick from a wide selection of boots in tan, caramel and red or a chic loafer with tassel or leopard print detail

VERY - below image from Diana Vickers' new collection for the website, very sixties feel with printed mini dresses in bright, fun colours. Fearne Cotton's new range also very wearable with plenty of individual looking pieces

UNIQLO - check out their range of charity t-shirts for Japan designed by various celebrities including Gaga, Blake Lively and designers Alber Elbaz and Karl Lagerfeld. Everyone needs a printed white t-shirt in their wardrobes and these are for a very good cause. In Uniqlo stores now.

Midi Madness

Bored of maxi dresses already? Don't feel comfortable in a playsuit? The midi dress could be the one for you!

This season's reserved, understated item is the midi; a skirt length that sits from the knee down but above the ankle and has a definite retro feel to its cut, colour and shape. Popular on the SS catwalks and with fashion forward celebs (Alexa is always the perfect example - wearing Chanel to the Chanel Cruise 11-12 show in France no less!).

They are a great option for you if you want to show a little big of leg but not too much and are best kept simple with minimal accessories - too many will clash with the style of the dress. Pop on a structured bag and a pair of chic flats or medium-height heels; mega platforms will overwhelm the look. Think Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan - this is the look for the English Rose in you!

Go for a colour palette of pastels, classic blues, nudes and white shades or a soft girly print in a floaty fabric. The dress shouldn't be too structured and should allow for movement.

Snap up one of these high street lovelies and keep your fingers crossed for good weather to wear them in:

Ditsy print, Warehouse, £65

White embroidered, River Island, £39.99

Pansy print, Topshop, £40

Candy pink, ASOS, £40

Turquoise, Topshop, £46

June Wednesday Wishing

Welcome to June and the first Wednesday of the month. Summer is not far off and I am loving the weather already and plan to make the most of it by wearing some lovely clothes! On that note...

1. This is definitely the perfect hat to hide mysteriously from under on your sun lounger this Summer. The width protects your face from the sun and it will look very chic with a cut-out swimsuit and a tan - real or fake. H&M, £5.99.

2. Now is the time to be wearing your acid brights - never mind if that old man on the tube stares! The pleated skirt is the key item for the season and this lemon yellow colour is fresh and zingy. Wear with other citrus shades for an original look. River Island, £29.99.

3. Another wonder accessory up next in the shape of this fringed clutch from Dorothy Perkins. Fringing is practically synonyms with the word 'festival' but this bag could also be worn with a maxi dress and tan heels, imagine the possibilities... Dorothy Perkins, £35.

4. If you haven't noticed already I have become a little obsessed with colour blocking this season, so imagine my happiness at coming across these colour block red, purple and pink sandals. Flats don't have to be boring this Summer - be careful not to wear with too many other colours though or risk looking like a rainbow. Zara, £29.99.

5. I had my first view of the new celebrity collaboration range for Very.co.uk at their Press Day last week and I was rather impressed. This time they've lined up Diana Vickers, previous X Factor contestant and always well dressed to design a range for them. The range has a retro, luxe feel and this bird printed prom dress is my favourite from the current range. A great dress for a Summer wedding or an understated day look with some retro shades. £79, Diana Vickers at Very.
