(Belated) Wednesday Wish List

Apologies for the late posting of this entry, I begun writing it late last night and then decided that sleep was a better option so I am finishing it off this morning. Hopefully you'll agree it's worth the wait when you see the lovely items on this week's Wednesday Wish List. I've gone for a twist on the usual style this week and looked for high street items that resemble my favourite catwalk looks from SS11, what with it being fashion month and all. Hope you enjoy...

1. First item this week that has caught my eye is this vest from Dorothy Perkins, £15. The fresh cyan and floral print seems to take it's reference from the beautiful collection that is Jonathan Saunders SS11. The perfect colour for Spring, pair with other clean brights and flashes of white.

2. A favourite collection of mine for this season is Erdem, full of beautiful floral prints and flashes of reds, greens and oranges. So imagine my happiness on coming across this bright red lace dress from Topshop, £42, a great high street alternative to this striking Erdem number. Buy now, wear all Summer and even into next season.

3. If brights aren't your thing then this beige pleated midi-skirt should be right up your street, £32 from Love Label at very.co.uk. A great high street alternative to the Chloe skirt, which I can currently only dream of affording! Pair with ballet pumps and a silky tee for the Spring minimalist look.

4. As I've previously blogged about, the 70's are big news and we have Marc Jacobs to thank for that. So to show him your appreciation, I suggest you snap up this printed halter dress from Miss Selfridge for £55. A great alternative to a standard party dress, keep it classic with block heels and natural make-up.

5. Last up this week is your everyday designer alternative. Everyone loves denim and a denim shift dress is extremely easy and comfortable to wear. This Zara dress is a great purchase if you're a fan of Stella McCartney's SS11 collection, yours for £35.99.

Accessorize All Areas

On Wednesday of this week I was lucky enough to go along to a Press/Bloggers event at the newly refurbished Accessorize store on Oxford Street. Accessorize is always my first port of call for jewelry and accessory purchases so I was pleased to hear that the store, close to Bond Street station and a few doors down from Selfridges was reopening after its Spring makeover. I'm pleased to say the store is looking (almost) as pretty as the collection itself with floral and butterfly prints on the walls and light displays, giving me the feeling of being in a holiday cottage.

Accessorize's SS collection makes uses of pretty florals, embellishment, and fringing and is certainly worth a visit for an instant accessory update. I've chosen the items that caught my eye at the new store launch below:

In need of a new day bag with a difference? Look no further than this beige and aztec print satchel bag for £35. The perfect finishing touch to any day outfit, wear it with brights for a stunning contrast.

If Accessorize isn't your first stop for kitsch charm necklaces already then, well it should be! Lots of lovely necklaces in store but this bow necklace was one of my favourites at only £10. Wear with florals, denim, pastels... the options are endless!

This retro tort bracelet has 70's poolside glamour all over it. Buy now and wear all holiday long! £12.

Statement rings are always stylish and Accessorize has a large selection, this pink stone ring for £10 being my personal favourite. Big enough to be a statement on its own or wear with other rings and lots of bangles for a striking look.

Everyone needs a glamorous clutch bag in their life but this gold shell clutch outshines the rest and is a bargain for just £23. Wear to a Summer wedding with a bright coloured maxi dress and pretend you're at the Oscars.

Another bag caught my eye (what a surprise) and I'm sure you can see why, this fringed floral bag is the right mix of girly and casual and sure to be a summer festival necessity. £32 and in store now.

Hair accessories are always popular for Spring and Accessorize have a large range of hair bands, corsages and bandos, this heart printed one being one of the prettiest I've seen. Wear with a retro messy updo, winged eyeliner and light pink lipstick. At only £7 it's an easily affordable treat for your hair.

If these weren't enough, check out the rest of the collection in store or online at http://www.accessorize.com/.

In Print

Prints are hardly a new phenomenon fashion-wise but this season there are many to choose from and have fun with.

First up, and my personal favourite is stripes. Given a colourful reinvention this season by Prada, it's time to stash away your Breton stripes in favour of bright, thick blocks of colour for a sporty, confident look. Miuccia Prada mixed up her stripes with strong florals on t-shirt dresses and skirts and primary colours and other bold shades are key for this look, no pastels allowed. Also seen at Proenza Schouler as part of the neon trend.

Another style of print I am enjoying this season is a print best named Whimsical. Designers including Mary Katrantzou, Carolina Herrera and Christian Dior went for a fun style of print using birds, butterflies, room interiors, and tropical motifs. The bright colours and flirty shapes have seduced the fashion pack and have translated well onto the high street, producing a wide variety of prints in the whimsical style for your to take a fancy to.

Last up, the freshest and brightest style of prints this season: Novelty. Novelty prints were used by a number of big names including Moschino Cheap and Chic, Miu Miu, House of Holland, Giles and Stella McCartney. I loved the bold Hollywood-style stars at Miu Miu, appearing on silk dresses and bags and THE print of the season - fruits at Stella McCartney and Moschino Cheap and Chic.

Wednesday

Mid-week again, and lots of lovely clothes, accessories and shoes for you to covet. Whilst the AW11 collections are being displayed in New York, I've only got eyes for this season and am looking forward to bringing you lots of exciting new buys each week. So get out your debit card and enjoy!

1. First on my list today is this rather sweet mini bag from Dorothy Perkins, £22. Mini bags are the bag to be seen with at the moment so pack your essentials and you're ready to go! The blush pink colour of the stripe is my favourite shade so far this season (if you know me you can confirm this) and goes perfectly with Spring's various 70's shades and brights alike.

2. Love this spotty white and yellow cropped top from Warehouse for £35. The hint of fluoro is enough to tempt me and I have no doubt this top will see you through many sunny days.

3. The windows in Zara have been catching my eye for the past couple of weeks with their bold colour displays and these trousers are just one item in their bright Spring collection. Wear with black or white for a safe day look or clash with other crayola-style colours. £35.99 and available in other bright colour ways.

4. Speaking of colour... (I may be developing a small obsession) these heeled patent brogues are a tangerine dream and the perfect accompaniment to a pair of tailored trousers. Race you to the checkout? £65, Office.

5. Last up is a designer-high street collaboration that is definitely worth the more premium price point. Whilst I'd love to be front row at Mary Katrantzou's LFW week show next week I'll settle for owning this psychedelic printed t-shirt dress, available from Topshop for £150.

WWL

So it's Wednesday again and you know what that means... yes, I am here to bring you five great new items available to buy this week and this week I bring you and Accessories special. So save yourself some money and snap up one (or all) of these lovely accessories for an instant update.

1. Belts are not an item I buy too regularly but ever since the Burberry SS11 show I have wanted to try out the belt-over-trench look and this Topshop belt may be the way to go about it. Belt up over a classic beige trenchcoat and clash with another block colour accessory. Topshop, £16.

2. This zingy watch from Urban Outfitters is next up this week. A great day watch and another block colour piece to wear with neutrals or other fluorescent shades a la Christopher Kane. Comes in a variety of other colours, £18.

3. Next up is this purse from Zara, 19.99. Yes, you heard me right, Zara, not Prada! Love the designer coloured stripes look and a much more Spring friendly item than your standard black leather one.

4. I've always thought myself not quite trendy enough to wear a hat but I am warming to the lovely cornflower blue shade of this ASOS one, £25. Great for hiding bad hair (specifically grown out roots) and very on trend. Wear with flared jeans and a white blouse and transport yourself back to the 70s.

5. Last up is this aztec printed pouch bag. Buy now, wear all summer, it's as simple as that! Yours for £28, Miss Selfridge.

Wednesday Wish List

Happy Wednesday all and I hope your week is going well so far. I didn't realise at the time but my last post was my 100th blog post for Running in Platforms so I am rather impressed that I have made it this far! Thanks to everyone for reading and please continue to do so. On with the list...

1. First up this week I bring you this colour block clutch bag from Dorothy Perkins, £15. Colour blocking, and in turn clashing, was prevalent on the catwalks and this is an easy way to do it. Pair with other shades of blue for a head-turning look.

2. Next on the list is this sleeveless chiffon shirt from Miss Selfridge, £32. The whimsical muted florals in soft oranges and greens make for a perfect Spring wardrobe updater. Button it up to the top for an on-trend look.

3. Now whilst jeans aren't usually the type of clothing to catch my magpie-like eyes this pair certainly have and will surely be making their way to my wardrobe soon. These high-waisted mid-wash jeans are very flattering and give the allusion of long supermodel-esque legs. Tuck in one of Springs many blouses and wear with some punchy coloured wedges. Topshop, £50.

4. Brighter colours are slowly seeping in to stores and this coral skirt from H&M is both bright and reasonably priced at just £14.99. Has the potential to be casual or smart, wear with a white shirt and jumper over for that fresh Moschino Cheap and Chic look.

5.  Last up are these wedding worthy shoes from ASOS, £45. If, like me, you have a wedding to attend in the Spring/Summer months then these shoes should definitely be given your consideration. Finding a perfect mix with the corsage detail and chunky platform heel, they will look lovely with painted toes and a showstopping dress to match.
